This presentation addresses the fundamental design considerations of daylighting provided by Unit Skylights. Skylight components are addressed as well as the integration of artificial lighting. Skylight location and placement are looked at in relation to the climate, interior space and Daylighting needs. Properly designed use of Daylighting and integrated light fixtures provide substantial energy savings. Natural Daylighting has proven to increase student test scores, increase retail sales and promote wellness. New energy efficient glazing materials utilizing Aerogel are also part of the presentation.

This presentations qualifies for one (1) hour of HSW.

Mark Brink became involved in construction products as a sales representative in 1983. He also joined the Minneapolis - St. Paul CSI Chapter at that time. For over 25 years Mark has been involved with Divisions 7 and 8 products, including single ply roofing, prefinished metals and skylights. Mark has continued in education courses relating to Daylighting and the integration of lighting controls. His skylight background includes everything from standard unit skylights to monumental metal framed skylight applications. He is a firm believer in daylighting with skylights and design considerations that lead to energy savings. .
