Date: 02/18/2010
Location: Riverwalk Banquet Center;
Contact: D. Blake Wagner
E-Mail: seminar@csiindy.org

Info: The February program will illustrate quarry and milling techniques, show examples of problems on jobs and ways to avoid them, and give a general history of the Indiana Limestone industry, taking attendees on a 100-year tour of buildings located throughout the country. It will conclude by showing how ILI can help members of the design and construction team use Indiana Limestone and avoid pitfalls. The program will stress the benefits of seeking competent advice and assistance from available resources, and the concept of teamwork in moving toward the successful completion of the project. While the emphasis is on Indiana Limestone, the program is not a seminar-long sales pitch for the product. Many of the concepts addressed in the presentation are applicable, no matter what product is specified.

Learning Objectives:
A. Gain a better understanding of the process of getting natural stone from the quarry to their project.

B. See examples of problems on jobs caused by poor specifications, detailing, and construction practices, and learn how to avoid these and other mistakes in their projects.

C. Learn points of reference and how they can be helpful in all phases of their projects, no matter what the specified product.
