Trade Show Seminar - Sustainability & Software: Fueling Green Design with BIM
Date: September 16, 2010 Location: Riverwalk Banquet Center "LODGE" Time:
Lunch: 12:00-1:00 pm
Seminar: 1:00-3:00 pm
The presentation will cover how building information modeling (BIM) technology provides the basis for sustainable design and energy analysis, yielding opportunities for informed decision-making on the part of the project team - architecture and engineering firms; government energy, facility, design, or construction departments; and energy service companies.
Participants will understand the potential to connect a design and construction process based on BIM to the achievement of sustainable ratings, such as LEED certification. The session will introduce the concept of rapid energy modeling - how a basic 3D model for existing buildings can be developed, an initial energy analysis performed and the energy efficiency of potential building designs can be compared. Become aware of the ways which the design and construction industry is being transformed by the convergence of BIM, sustainable design, and collaboration and consider how the industry will evolve as these trends become common practices.
